JANINE BLAND designs and makes her own line of jewelry incorporating diverse cultural traditions from around the world and using fine and semi-precious stones. She was first attracted to stones when she was a girl growing up in France. A self-taught artist, Janine was able to collect and study unusual jewelry during her travels with the Foreign Service. She continues to travel extensively and has collected treasures from scores of countries, including Madagascar, Congo, Ghana, Thailand, China, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, Korea, Australia, Morocco, Kenya, Russia, Turkey , Tunisia and even her native France.
Janine has exhibited her work at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the World Bank, La Maison Francaise, Nordstrom, and at many private shows in the Washington area, as well as in California and France. Some of her creations were selected to be worn at the Oscars.

Freelance ArtistJeanne Weaver, who draws inspiration from twenty-five years in eight countries on three continents in the foreign service as a spouse, four times CLO and recipient of the M. Juanita Guess State Department Award as CLO of the year, 2001 is now a full time artist. She concentrates her work on those things she loves: The sea, coastal life, and those places where she has lived and traveled. Her current works are planned in 2009 for exhibits at the State Department, Southeastern VA, North Carolina, and the Space Coast of Florida.
