Farewell to Deborah Sigmund, a Selfless, Caring, Exceptional Lady, and Committed Warrior Against Human Trafficking

A friend of AAFSW, Deborah Sigmund suddenly passed away on January 5, 2023. Deborah spearheaded the fight against child exploitation, forced labor & human trafficking in the US & abroad as Founder & Executive Director of Innocents At Risk.

Deborah shared her experience with AAFSW at the George C. Marshall Conference Center in October 2019, and the extraordinary steps she took to help and advocate for the rights of the most vulnerable victims of inhumane and slave-like conditions. You can read more about the Innocents At Risk event here on our site.

President Biden has proclaimed January 2023 as ‘National Human Trafficking Prevention Month”. Deborah was at the forefront of this fight, raising awareness about the horrors of child trafficking in America and around the world since 2005.

Deborah’s contributions were invaluable, and her insights and wisdom will be sorely missed.
