AAFSW's Art & BookFair

AAFSW’s Art & BookFair will be open to State Department personnel from October 11-20, 2024. The fair will be open to the public on October 12-13 and October 19-20. It will be held in the National Museum of American Diplomacy at the State Department. Hours are 11 a.m.-3 pm. EST.

Members: Log in and check the members-only section to access our volunteer sign up form.

AAFSW’s annual Art & BookFair takes place each fall in the National Museum of American Diplomacy, located on the lower level of the remodeled 21st St entrance to the Department of State. Thousands of used books, art objects, jewelry, paintings, collectibles, stamps and coins are available. Some carpets and textiles as well. All items are donated by Foreign Service families and friends of AAFSW who have traveled overseas. It’s a wonderful place to shop for unusual and unique gifts.

There is a wide range of books from architecture to zoology and many subjects in between. Collector’s Corner has special books of greater value. For philatelists, the Stamp Corner is just the place to go. Every year is different and exciting.

Admission is free, and the public is invited on both weekends. Books are half-price on the last two days of the fair.

The proceeds from the Art & BookFair go to a number of worthy causes–scholarships for Foreign Service and Civil Service students, continuing education scholarships for spouses and partners, Foreign Service projects such as the Foreign Service Youth Foundation, and other community projects. Over the years, the AAFSW has given away over a million dollars.

An event like this cannot happen without the assistance of many volunteers! If you enjoy books, objets d’art, or any of the other categories listed, there’s a space for you to help out, starting ASAP! Contact BookRoom@aafsw.org.

VISA, Mastercard, American Express, and checks are accepted.
