AAFSW’s Secretary of State Award for Outstanding Volunteerism Abroad (SOSA) honors Foreign Service employees, spouses/partners and Members of Household serving abroad for outstanding volunteer service directed toward the host country or the Embassy/Consulate community, or exceptional actions during an emergency. SOSA winners and nominees create a lasting positive impact during their overseas assignments, demonstrating the best of “citizen diplomacy.”
The AAFSW “Champions of Career Enhancement for Eligible Family Members” Award (CCE-EFM) was developed by AAFSW’s EFM Employment Committee to recognize and incentivize those who go above and beyond their job descriptions and routine daily activities to promote the cause of employment and career development for Foreign Service family members.
Since 1993 AAFSW has honored former AAFSW President Lesley Dorman (1976-1981) for her accomplishments and untiring efforts on behalf of the Foreign Service community with the Lesley Dorman Award. The award recognizes an AAFSW member who has performed outstanding service in all aspects of the organization.
