AAFSW organized a tour of the Art of Japan at the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art in Washington, DC, on September 25. Our tour guide for the event was Smithsonian docent and retired FSO, John Brennan, who served in both China and Japan. His deep knowledge of Japanese culture, history, and language made for a very engaging tour. He showed us Japanese pottery, sculpture, scrolls and screens from various periods of Japanese history. Guests enjoyed it so much, that they stayed after the tour to continue the discussion with the docent.
